26th Annual Children’s Water Festival

It’s that time of year again for planning the 2024 Children’s Water Festival! I would like to invite you to participate as a presenter in this years Festival!

On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, the Southwestern Water Conservation District will host their 26th Annual Children’s Water Festival at Fort Lewis College from approximately 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. We all were so excited to bring the Water Festival back in 2023 after a three-year hiatus due to Covid-19. We had a fabulous turnout from schools around the SW Basin with a total of 18 schools and close to 800 students! It was a great day for all!

We very much hope you will be a new or returning presenter! We couldn’t do it without your expertise and much appreciated participation!

The Water Festival is a tremendous opportunity for your organization to share information about the importance of water with more than 800 regional fifth grade students. We encourage presenters to develop water-related activities that are interactive, hands-on, and fun (the more interactive the activity the more the children will remember). The 2024 Water Festival will engage students with topics such as water conservation, water chemistry, the water cycle, local water systems, species habitats, weather, water quality and ecology. Students will have fun with hands on activities while learning about local and global water issues.

Presentations will run simultaneously with groups of students rotating from session to session. Each session is 20-minutes and can take place in classrooms or outdoors.
