Catch the Wave and Save

Locally, the Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District (PAWSD) has launched a new Catch the Wave and Save campaign as part of its continuing conservation efforts. The campaign includes a tremendous website ( with a multitude of conservation-related information, tips, and links. In addition, radio and newspaper ads are running with this slogan to remind folks to conserve. Doorhangers and table-tents are being developed for local hotel/motels and timeshare groups and tip cards are being developed for local appliance and plumbing supply stores. The PAWSD has had a conservation program in place since the early 1990’s. In 2003 the program was expanded to include, among other programs: toilet and washing machine rebate programs, pre-rinse spray valve giveaways for restaurants, and water audits. In addition, the District and Archuleta County officials are discussing the potential for incorporation of water conservation ordinances into County building codes.
