January 12, 2008--Diversions draining the mighty Colorado (Rocky Mountain News)

The Colorado River starts in Rocky Mountain National Park, on whose southwestern border it encounters the first of many dams and ditches. Because of diversions like this, the Colorado's muddy red waters don't always reach the blue Pacific Ocean.
