Zebra mussels are an aquatic nuisance species being identified in Colorado; they also have been discovered in Pueblo Reservoir. "There are waters in Colorado that have tested positively," Ranger Jim Hawkins said.

Pueblo Reservoir has more water than it has for the past decade as managers move water from other storage facilities. The federal Bureau of Reclamation, which operates the reservoir, says it has 261,200 acre-feet of water, or about 85 billion gallons. That's the most since March 2000.

Michael Bennet, U.S. Senator for Colorado, on Thursday announced Senate approval of $5 million to finally begin work on the Arkansas Valley Conduit as part of the final Energy & Water Appropriations bill. The first round of conduit funding will be used for the environmental analysis, planning and design. The bill will now move to the President’s desk for his signature.
