Historic day as Lake Nighthorse begins filling!

After decades of work, water is beginning to flow into Lake Nighthorse--a new southwest Colorado reservoir that will benefit three American Indian tribes, as well as Durango (CO) and Farmington (NM). Pumps began filling the 120,000-acre-foot Lake Nighthorse on May 4, 2009. The federal Bureau of Reclamation estimates it will take 18 months to three years to fill the reservoir.
