January 22, 2007--Chain of lakes below Pueblo Dam nearly reeled in (Pueblo Chieftain)
A chain of lakes, part of the City of Pueblo's Arkansas River Legacy Park, were once part of a sand and gravel operation just west of Pueblo, is nearing completion. The seven lakes sit on 270 acres of land at the site of the old Valco gravel yard...The recreation below the dam is a different type of recreation than the reservoir offers. It was a way to link the Nature Center and the rest of the corridor with the state park...The water rights for the lakes will be one of the last pieces of the puzzle to fall in place.
